If You Try One Thing This August... Try Reiki

What is Reiki?

Reiki is very simple, and it doesn’t need to be complicated or spoken about in mysterious ways. In its most simple terms it will help with stress, tension, anxiety, sleeplessness and some emotional problems.

Who wouldn’t want to feel free from these ailments?!

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique developed by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan, working holistically on the whole body, mind and spirit.

This complementary therapy promotes well-being and healing through stress reduction and relaxation. With regular Reiki treatments you can feel calmer, positive and better able to deal with life and its inevitable hurdles.

No two journeys or treatments with Reiki are the same, therefore with this in mind, I will want to work with you to achieve your goals, with the aim to ensure you walk away from feeling calm and relaxed. I understand that everyone is on their own journey, and Reiki will aim to ensure that your journey is as smooth, stress- free and enjoyable as it can be, ultimately giving you complete balance in your own life.

My Reiki Lineage

My Reiki journey began, as many things do, at home. My family were very open minded to life improvement, techniques and therapies. Whilst for example my mum’s passion lay in medium-ship, mine diversified to various arms of the spectrum until one day I went for a Reiki session and found myself walking away in a sense of total Reiki bliss.

I’ve always had a natural connection with the body’s energy and so after exploring Reiki I knew it was a perfect fit for me.

Reiki was officially founded in 1922 by Mikao Usui (15 August 1865 – 9 March 1926) after he he moved to Tokyo and started a healing society that he named Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai (Usui Reiki Healing Method Society). He also opened a Reiki clinic in Harajuku, Aoyama, Tokyo. There he taught classes and gave treatments.

Everyone that studies Reiki should be able to trace their lineage back to the original source.

Below you will find my journey of teaching and lineage;

Reiki Principles

When studying Reiki, you learn to practice on yourself and others in order to strengthen your abilities and allow the healing process to develop. As well as learning and practicing, a Reiki Practitioner will try and live by the core Reiki principles:

Just for today, do not worry

Just for today, do not anger

Just for today, live honestly

Just for today, be grateful

Just for today, be kind to all

The Reiki Treatment Process

Reiki treatments can reduce stress within your body and produce a sensation of emotional and physical well-being as well as help the body’s natural healing ability.

A typical Reiki treatment can last from half an hour to an hour, this is a non-invasive treatment, I use the non-touch method hovering my hands over your body throughout the treatment. You will lie on the treatment bed fully clothed or sit in a chair if you prefer. The quiet and peaceful setting at Beauty Secrets is perfect for this treatment, allowing you to switch off from the outside world and be one with yourself throughout the treatment.

What Will You Experience During The Treatment?

If you speak to more than one person about their experience, you will quickly find that their answers will differ. This is completely normal; we all have our own energies and therefore the experiences will take you on different journeys. Some people have commented on experience, weightlessness, heat from the

practitioner’s hands, complete relaxation, feeling sleepy, feeling more alert and awake, along with a plethora of other feelings. All I can suggest is come for a treatment with an open mind and see where it takes you!

I would also like to add that Reiki Practitioners do not diagnose conditions, nor do they prescribe or perform medical treatment, prescribe substances, or interfere with the treatment of licensed medical professionals. This is a simple and gentle energy technique that is used for stress reduction and relaxation only.

I look forward to meeting you soon, and I’m excited to see where your Reiki journey will take you.
